Principal's Report
Dear Parents/Carers, Students and Staff
The final two weeks of Term 1 have included many extra activities, such as class excursions, sporting events and community activities, that have certainly added to the success and achievements of our school community throughout Term 1. Unfortunately, the wet weather at the end of Week 10 has forced the postponement of two major activities, the St Clare’s Athletics Carnival, and the Year 9 Reflection Day. Our Athletics Carnival will now be held in Week 1 of Term 2, with the Year 9 Reflection Day rescheduled for later in Term 4.
Term 1
As is always the case in schools, Term 1 has been a very busy Term with assessments, exams and class work all occupying much of our students’ time. The commitment that many students have shown to their studies as well as to the extracurricular activities of the school has ensured that Term 1 has also been a very enjoyable and productive term for our students.
Year 12 are busy completing a range of assessment tasks and will soon be in the second half of their HSC courses and will be focussing their efforts on ensuring they learn as much as possible in and out of the classroom to maximise their assessment results and to prepare themselves for their Trial HSC exams in Term 3. Year 11 have made a very positive start to their Preliminary HSC course and are working hard on assessments tasks. For Years 7, 8, 9 and 10, classwork, regular homework and assignments have kept them all occupied and committed to their studies.
Students are reminded that the effort and hard work that they put into their learning will be reflected in the results they receive throughout the term and that the small daily efforts are often the most significant ones.
St Clare’s Athletics Carnival
The rescheduled St Clare’s Athletics carnival for 2024 will now be held at Taree Recreation Ground Athletics Track on Thursday 2 May (Week 1 of Term 2). We will hope and pray for fine weather leading up to the carnival and again on the day. Please note that this is a compulsory event for all students and attendance and engagement with the variety of activities and events is expected from all students.
ANZAC Day March
A special invitation is extended to all students to join St Clare’s in the Taree ANZAC Day March on Thursday 25 April. Students who wish to join our school group are asked to wear full school uniform and to meet on the corner of Albert and Macquarie Streets at 9:30 am for a 10 am start.
Beginning of Term 2
Term 2 begins for all students on Monday 29 April. The term will start with Week A of the timetable.
I wish all our students, their families, and our staff a very relaxing, enjoyable and safe holiday break.
Tony McCudden
