Passionate and Proactive

One of our high potential Year 9 students, Shiloh Herzberg Nicholls, is a passionate and proactive member of the Manning Valley community.  Shiloh is also a well-respected member of our Environmental group here at St Clare’s High School.

Her passion for the care of our local environment was her driving force to starting the Forest Heart Coastcare group based at Red Head.  Her friends and their families have been planting every month for over three years and had an estimated 1000 plants in the ground.  These plants were becoming well established and a wonderful extension to the existing littoral rainforest and koala habitat in the Red Head area.

Devastatingly, vandalism has destroyed every one of these plants!

Thankfully, Forest Heart is resilient and won’t let this unacceptable action stop them.  They are planning a big open day on site on Sunday, 1 December to rally community support to start the process of replanting.

Let’s support Shiloh and her Forest Heart group in their positive actions to create a wonderful environment that will benefit the native wildlife and us - now and in the future.

At St Clare’s we continue the work of St Clare and Francis of Assisi who were environmentalists that saw the importance of every tree in our world.  If you have any time on Sunday 1 December, head along to Red Head Reserve!

Congratulations on your effort, Shiloh!  The St Clare’s High School community is extremely proud of you.
