Careers & Vet Information

Careers Corner

We have almost made it to the end of the year and this will be the last Careers Corner for 2020.

By the time this newsletter has been released the Year 12 students who have qualified for an ATAR will know their results.  Good luck to everyone.

It would also be wonderful if the students could email me with any offer that they are thinking of accepting.  If they would like any help, I am available.  I will be checking my emails regularly over the Christmas break so if any of the students need assistance, please feel free to email me.  I would also like to encourage those students who have accepted university offers to apply for as many scholarships as possible.  You have to be-in-it-to-win-it.

Below is some up to date information from CAA.

Hopefully we will be able to continue with Work Experience in 2021 and I will have forms available for anyone interested in this.

I would like to remind everyone about the White Card course on offer in 2021.

On 3 February next year, “Men at Work” will be running a White Card course at St Clare’s.  We have to have at least ten students for the course to run.  The cut off is twenty.  It will cost $125 and Men at Work do an excellent job in presenting this course.  Anyone who wants to do Work Experience in the building industry or is doing Construction in 2021 will need to complete this course.  To date, I have about five students interested.

Careers.jpg

Last week the Year 7 and Year 8 students took part in an intensive Careers Day called Become Me with their Clare teachers.  There were a few technical and other issues on the day, however there was some very positive feedback from the students and the staff.  The aim of the day was to get the students thinking about future possibilities in order to engage with their learning.  The students were impressed with the “Become Me” App and the way they could search through many different possible career pathways.  From the feedback received to date, the Zoom interview with past students was also very worthwhile.

I would like to thank the staff and the students for their participation on the day.  It was a pleasure to work with everyone.

I would like to wish all the students and families a very Holy and Happy Christmas and hope that it is a very enjoyable time to catch up with families and loved ones.

I am looking forward to 2021 and all the challenges it will bring.
