Child Protection Week 2025
This week we take a moment to recognise the importance of keeping all children safe in our community. The symbol we are using is the lotus flower. This flower is often thought to be a symbol of life’s ebbs and flows. The flower’s ability to rise from murky waters into something beautiful makes it a powerful symbol of hope and perseverance. This incredible process is a reminder that as a community we must work to support the safety and protection of children… to ensure they reach their full potential. Protecting children is everybody’s business. At this time, we also take time to reflect on, remember and pray for healing of all children who have been impacted by abuse.
"Heavenly Father,
we lift up all children this week, praying for their safety and well-being.
Bless every community with the resources, jobs, and safe spaces they need to be strong foundations for families and children.
We ask for Your love to counter greed and desperation, helping families find reliable incomes and empowering communities to protect children from harm.
Guide us to listen to children, value their voices, and take concrete actions to create safe, caring environments for them to thrive.
In particular we pray for:
Fairness and Opportunity:
-for a society where every child has a fair start, with the support and resources needed to develop healthily.
We pray for Family Support:
- for parents to have reliable incomes, and for communities to be nurturing environments where families and children can thrive.
We pray for Safe Environments:
- for protection against abuse and harm, and for communities to be safe spaces for children to grow and play.
We pray for Empowerment and Voice:
-that adults will listen to and value children's input, advocating for their best interests in decision-making processes.
We pray for Strong Communities:
-for strong foundations in neighbourhoods, including access to good schools, childcare, parks, libraries, and health services.
Children are a precious gift from God. As a community, we pray for all children’s protection and safety, and we make a commitment to help children around us live the full and abundant life God desires for them.
