Careers Corner
Welcome back to Term 3. What a changing world we live in! Hopefully we will not have to go back to online learning.
On Wednesday, 21 July, Men At Work delivered the White Card course here at St Clare’s to several of our students. As part of a current Government initiative, this course has been made available at no cost for those students aged 16 and above this year. The pictures below speak for themselves.

I would like to thank Mr Hobbes for the work he is doing with Year 7 this year. He is running a “Careers” lesson with them each week using a program called “Become Me”.
Current research is showing that the earlier students are exposed to Careers Education the better their choices and post school pathway options will be.
This doesn’t mean that they will be asked what they want to do when they leave school, but rather to focus on their strengths and identify what their likes and dislikes are. It is important to recognise the influences in our lives and how that can affect us.
Year 10 at the moment are participating in a series of sessions aimed at helping them make decisions about their subject choices for next year.
Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the Information Evening for Year 10 students and parents due to COVID restrictions. However, there will be several presentations made available via Compass and the students are being given information during Clare sessions and also during sport time on a Thursday afternoon.
Please remember that I am available to help with this process, be it with the students or with students and parents/guardians. The students can write their names on the timetable on my office door or feel free to contact me on 6552 3300 and make an appointment.
We will be continuing Careers Sessions with Year 11 students on Fridays during the Period 3 session. As the end of Preliminary Studies is near many students have to make decisions about discontinuing some subjects and working more towards a post school pathway. Once again if anyone would like to contact me for assistance please do so.
I have noticed that the students in Year 12 are gradually registering with UAC and several have already applied for SRS (Schools Recommendation Scheme). Students were sent an email regarding dates so please check this. I have also put this information in the Careers OneNote along with a PowerPoint with more information.
Please also remember to check the various university websites for Early Entry opportunities. Much of this information is also available in our Careers Team OneNote.
