Careers & Vet Information
Careers Corner
What an interesting two weeks we have had!
I hope that everyone is safe and well. There is quite a bit of information in this edition of Careers Corner.
Year 12 – keep your heads up and take things one step at a time. There is once again a huge amount of information about post school pathways available and the ability to look at these virtually which is good for us here in regional NSW. This is one good thing about the current situation.
Please keep checking your emails for apprenticeship/traineeship information, job vacancies and university information. I will be placing everything in our OneNote as well.
If you are thinking about a University pathway, please register with UAC ($70 before the end of September, $200 after this time). Please apply for as many Early Entry pathways as possible – the information is on each University website. When you register on UAC please apply for SRS as well. There are several categories of EAS (Education Advantage Scheme) so you may qualify for one or more of these.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like some assistance. It is very easy to arrange a Zoom meeting and I have had four of these with students just in the first two days of this week.
Year 9 and 10 students now have access to “The Careers Department” which has a huge amount of information about possible career pathways, virtual work experience etc. I would like to encourage parents/guardians to have a look at this with their son/daughter/ward.
We offer three VET courses at St Clare’s at the moment and these are Construction, Hospitality and Sports Coaching. We have been very fortunate especially with Construction to end up with several fulltime apprenticeships after the students have completed Work Placement. I have been sent the following regarding VET in Years 11 and 12.
Some interesting information about VET in Years 11 & 12
This article, published on 11 August 2021, explains why VET can be a great option for students.
