Australian Geography Competition 2022
Geography students from St Clare’s tested their geographical skills and knowledge against students from all around Australia in the 2022 Australian Geography Competition. Due to COVID and floods the release of the results was delayed. After a long wait we finally received the results, and it is pleasing to see how students performed. We had a number of student geographers at our school who performed very well in the Competition this year with four high distinctions, one distinction, six credits and 14 students who received participation awards.
Back Row: Benjamin Cooper, Archer Murray, Connor Stace, Elise Miles & Flynn Small
Front Row: Cornell Estibeiro, William Gibson, Charli McLane, Alexander Saville & Leo Small
Nearly 70,000 students from across Australia entered the Australian Geography Competition so the results give us an external benchmark as to how are students are going in certain aspects of geography.
Rachel Honey, the Competitions National Coordinator said, “The Competition aims to encourage student interest in geography and to reward student excellence.”
“Geography is an important subject because it brings together the physical and human dimensions of our environment, helping students to develop a deeper understanding of our world and the challenges it faces” said Mrs Honey
Congratulations to all students who participated in the Competition.
A big thank you to Mrs Tilbrook who helped supervise students with Education Perfect.
