2022/23 UAA Hunter Academy of Sport Girls & Boys Hockey Squad
The Hunter Academy of Sport (HAS) hockey program plays a vital role in the Hockey NSW pathway by identifying, monitoring and developing the skills of young hockey players.
The HAS hockey program forms an underpinning program for the Hockey NSW Athlete Acceleration Program (AAP) that can see athletes progress through the athlete pathway and be given the support they need to progress to the next level. Members of the squad will be exposed to expert coaching services, and sport specific education in areas such as, physiotherapy and nutrition.

Berg Shield Cricket
Congratulations to our Year 7-9 school cricket team who travelled down to Singleton to compete against St Catherine’s Catholic College in the first round of Berg Shield T20 Cricket tournament on Thursday, 20 October. The team played with terrific sportsmanship, a great attitude and a healthy competitiveness, with all players thoroughly enjoying the day.
St Clare’s lost the toss and were sent into bat, where they encountered early trouble with the loss of a wicket in the opening overs. St Catherine’s were relentless with their tight line and length bowling and energetic fielding throughout their bowling innings. This persistence paid off with St Clare’s unable to capitalise on any lose bowling which restricted their run scoring opportunities. Some late middle order hitting pushed St Clare’s batting innings to a meagre 36 from their allotted 20 overs.
St Clare’s made a bright start to their bowling innings, taking a wicket in the second over with a sharp outfield catch. St Clare’s were then made to toil hard in the field as they were subjected to some impressive and belligerent batting from the St Catherine’s top order batsmen, who thwarted the bowling attack to all parts. St Catherine’s overhauled the runs required in the 8th over to seal a comprehensive win.
Lastly, a big thank you to all players for the way they conducted themselves and for their help and support in the organisation of the day, it was greatly appreciated and help make days like this possible.
