Dear Colleagues

Given that current Principal, Peter Nichols will be taking leave in 2023, interviews were held recently for the position of Acting Principal at St Clare’s High School Taree for 2023.  As a result of these interview Fr Greg Barker, Diocesan Administrator and myself have accepted the panel decision to appoint Mr Phil Gibney as Acting Principal for 2023.

Phil’s previous leadership experience has included Acting Principal, Pastoral Care Coordinator, KLA Coordinator and Year Coordinator. The key in each of these positions has been to provide strong leadership in the areas of Pastoral Care/Wellbeing, Teaching and Learning and the Faith Development of students and the professional development, support and wellbeing of staff.

Phil actively supports the ministry coordinator in the organisation of school liturgies, reflection days and staff reflection days, retreats, feast days as well as actively participating or leading elements of these rituals or faith formation opportunities.

Parish Priest and member of the interview panel, Fr Kevin Corrigan supports this appointment.

Phil’s qualifications include:

• Bachelor of Education (Secondary) ACU – Technological and Applied Studies and Religious Education

We wish Phil well as he takes up the responsibility of Acting Principal for 2023.
