Congratulations to Sofia Gonzalez of Year 8 for her success in receiving a Highly Commended in the 2023 University of New England School Acquisitive Art Prize, Let’s Hang It!

This is the second year that Sofia has entered the prize and has been successful in being selected as a finalist.  As a finalist, Sophia was invited to the exhibition opening night at the New England Regional Art Museum where she was awarded Highly Commended in the Junior Secondary category for her artwork Drowning, which she created using paint, crayon, marker and pencil.

This year’s exhibition features the artwork of finalists that were selected from more than 500 student entries representing 49 schools in regional NSW.  This award is yet another great artistic achievement for Sofia.
