Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members

Farewell Year 12

The final school bell has been rung for the students of Year 12 2023.  This week has been all about taking time to say farewell to the wide-eyed adolescents who joined our community some six years ago, nervous and unsure of what the future held for them, and now leaving as young adults, ready to face the world's challenges head-on.  The week was a time for the students to step back, reflect and remember some of the challenging times, the achievements and most importantly the unforgettable memories that each of them have created together over the past 6 years of secondary schooling.

Celebrations this week started with students as usual letting their hair down, sometime too much.  It also included the annual Year 12 farewell assembly, produced, and conducted by the outgoing class of 2023, with many shared experiences being put on show, including some embarrassing moments.  Lots of laughs and tears were shared between the group, teachers, and the Year 7 – 11 students.

On Friday the year level celebrated their last Mass together and witnessed the badging of the 2024 school leaders by the outgoing leadership group.  It was wonderful to be able to welcome Year 12 parents and family friends to the ceremony and celebrate as a community.

After the Mass the traditional girl’s vs boy’s netball game was played with real passion being shown by both teams.  The students seem to put more time and effort into the preparation for this game than the actual farewell assembly.

To the students, remember that finishing Year 12 is just the beginning.  You are now equipped with the knowledge and skills to pursue your dreams, and the world is full of opportunities waiting for you to seize.  It won't always be easy, and there will be obstacles along the way, and that next obstacle starts in two weeks’ time, the HSC examinations.  Trust and believe in yourselves, give yourself the best shot by taking the time between now and the exams to properly prepare.  I believe you have the resilience and determination to overcome any obstacle and showcase the best of yourself.

Year 12 and all the students of St Clare’s, I encourage each and every one of you to follow your passions, chase your dreams, and never settle for anything less than what you deserve.  Remember that success is not defined solely by grades or achievements, but by the impact you make on the world and the lives you touch along the way.

Lastly, can I thank all community members, especially parents, carers and students for their continued support of St Clare’s, you are what makes this school great.  Thank you must also go to all the teaching and support staff at the school, who have worked tirelessly to ensure all students receive the best education possible.

‘Together with Christ we serve our community’.

Inspired by GOSPEL VALUES and the practical examples of St Mary of The Cross MacKillop and St Clare of Assisi our Mission is to…
