Community Kitchen
Winston Churchill once said “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” This quote is certainly apt for our Year 10 students who volunteered at the Community Kitchen on Wednesday, 25 October. They worked tirelessly and created a variety of healthy nutritious meals for those in need in our community. Nyoka, Rachel, Thalia and Alexander prepared and served Sweet & Sour Chicken, Lasagna, Savoury Mince and Chicken Carbonara. The clients at the kitchen were impressed by the students happy smiling faces and were keen to know where they were from. These students represented their school in a manner in which their parents and school can be very proud of them. Well done St Clare’s.

The community kitchen offered us a unique experience and gave us the opportunity to contribute to our community. I loved working with my friends to prepare meals and connecting with other people in our community. The challenging part about working in the kitchen was keeping up with the rush of people coming in. Although it was challenging at first, we managed to keep up after a while. At the end of the day, the most rewarding part about volunteering was being able to bring a smile to someone's face.
