Principal's Report
Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members
As I write the newsletter this week, I write with a heavy heart, with my time at St Clare’s coming to an end in a few short weeks. St Clare’s is a great school and we have so much more to do and achieve before the school year ends. We are focussed on ensuring that all students have a great finish to the year and that everything is in place for 2024 and the new principal.
On Monday, 27 November we held a Parent Information Evening for Year 10 2024 Parents. The evening was an opportunity to present parents a change in the structure for Year 10 Cohort for 2024. This is a shift that will see students grouped in into three core learning groups, Aspire, Engage and Connect groups across English and core subject of Religion, Science, PDHPE and History/Geography.
The change, which was informed by a variety of data, is to address the learning needs of all students and ensure we as a school can provide the best learning outcomes, opportunities for growth and preparedness for Year 11 and 12. I want to thank the parents/carers that attended the evening, for parent/carers that were unable to attend, a copy of the presentation will be posted shortly.
In the last newsletter I wrote how important Reflection days are for students to participate in. ‘Reflection days provide the opportunity for students to reflect on the past 12 months, develop their understanding of what it means to be a St Clare’s student, improve relationships with staff and fellow peers and most importantly build the sense of community amongst the year group.’
Just as important are the award ceremonies that will occur on Friday, 15 December on the students last day of the year. They are an opportunity to celebrate success within a particular year group, individually and collectively as a cohort, while further building a sense of community.
I would hope that all students take the time to fully participate in these important activities as we close out the year.
‘Together with Christ we serve our community’.
Inspired by GOSPEL VALUES and the practical examples of St Mary of The Cross MacKillop and St Clare of Assisi our Mission is to…
CONNECT LEARN ASPIRE RESPECT ENGAGE
