Sacrament of Confirmation
On Sunday, two of our students Kartia Matonhodze, Year 10 and Amellia Webster, Year 7 received the Sacrament of Confirmation, marking a significant step in their faith journey. This special occasion is the result of thoughtful preparation and guidance provided by Ms Gardner and Mrs Boere who have supported the students throughout the process. We congratulate both girls on this significant commitment to their faith.

Mr Smyth – Winner of the Dahlgren Teacher of Excellence Award
At the end of last term, we were thrilled to celebrate Physics and Mathematics teacher Mr Paul Smyth. This international award recognises outstanding teachers in STEM and is usually only awarded to teachers in the United States. It honours those who inspire excellence, lead with integrity, respect every student’s potential and encourage innovation. My Smyth was nominated by a former student who graduated in 2004 writing, “we haven’t spoken in 20 years, but I wouldn’t be where I am today without his support”. Congratulations Mr Smyth.

Welcoming Our Japanese Exchange Students – A Joyful Return After Seven Years!
After an seven-year hiatus due to the pandemic, we were thrilled to welcome our Japanese exchange students back to our school community. Their visit has been a heartwarming success, filled with cultural exchange, learning, and friendship.
During their stay, the students immersed themselves in classroom activities, participated in art classes, and presented a cultural performance. A highlight of their visit was an overnight camp at Bonny Hills, where they played games, bonded with peers over a campfire and witnessed a breathtaking sunrise on the beach. Their itinerary also included a visit to a local dairy farm and the Billabong Zoo, offering a true taste of regional life. It’s been a joy to host them, and we look forward to continuing this meaningful exchange in the years to come. Congratulations to Richard Petrucci, Theresa Avery and Lyndall Laurie for their organisation and involvement in this wonderful opportunity.

The trip offered a rich blend of educational experiences alongside the sheer joy snow skiing. For many students, it was their first time seeing snow. The camp was a fantastic opportunity for students to bond, grow in independence, and create lasting memories. Special thanks to Mr Carney and Mr Curtis for overseeing the camp and all of the staff who attended: Mrs Polson, Mr Hanlon, Mrs Laurie, Mrs Van Kampen, Mr McKee, Ms Merillo & Mr Koenig.
Funding Model for Schools
Recently there has been much public discussion around the Australian Government's model of funding schools. Catholic Schools NSW have put together some data to explain how government funding for non-government schools - such as Catholic and Independent schools - supports your right to choose the best educational environment for your child while also reducing costs for Australian taxpayers.
Using the most recent data, the report outlines how funding these schools, through a mixed education model, reduces pressure on public education resources, with savings of up to $6.88 billion annually. The report highlights how school choice benefits families and the broader community alike.

Upcoming Staff Development Days – August
This term, we have two important staff development days scheduled to support both professional growth and staff wellbeing. On Monday, 25 August, staff will participate in our annual Staff Spirituality Day, a valuable opportunity for reflection, connection, and renewal.
In response to the recent floods and their impact on our community, we have also been granted an additional Staff Development Day on Tuesday, 26 August, dedicated to Trauma-Informed Practice. This professional learning will equip staff with strategies to better support students who have experienced trauma, aligning closely with our commitment to student wellbeing and our School Improvement Plan.
These two days have been thoughtfully planned together to minimise disruption to learning while maximising the impact of staff development.
Reinforcing Our Uniform Expectations
As we continue to foster a sense of pride and belonging within our school community, we kindly remind students and families of the importance of adhering to our uniform policy. Wearing the correct school uniform not only reflects respect for our shared values but also promotes equality and school spirit. We appreciate the ongoing support from parents and carers in ensuring students arrive each day dressed appropriately and ready to learn. Let’s continue to work together to maintain the high standards that define our school.
Messages of Hope for the Manning
After the Manning region was hit by unprecedented flooding in May, the Catholic Schools community came together and shared ‘Messages of Hope’ – an initiative designed to remind everyone of the strength found in unity and to support the emotional and spiritual wellbeing of the affected communities.
The response was overwhelming, with over 200 heartfelt messages from schools across the Diocese. Each message, whether a simple drawing, a prayer, or a written note, conveyed compassion, solidarity, and a shared commitment to rebuilding, healing, and hope.
These messages have now been turned into a ‘Messages of Hope’ book, which can be seen here:

Parents of Year 7 and Year 9 should have now received their child's NAPLAN results. These were distributed to students last week. Please see the link below to assist with reading the report.
2025 NAPLAN individual student report information for parents and carers
Thank you to all parents, carers and students for your understanding and support with the delay in issuing of Years 7 - 10 reports. These reports have now been issued and are available via Compass. You will notice that we are in the process of updating some areas of our reports. Of note we are moving to outcome reporting which you will see visible in Religion and Mathematics reports. Over the next twelve months we will transition to this across all faculties in Years 7 - 10 and we appreciate your understanding as we upskill and work around the changes of new curriculum. If you have any concerns regarding your child's report, please do not hesitate to reach out to their class teacher or Leader of Wellbeing & Engagement.
Leave Notes & Student Messages
It would be appreciated if parents/guardians would phone the office, email or send in a written note if their child needs to leave early for appointments etc. Notes should be handed in at the front office in the morning so a leave note can be issued to students. If parents/guardians need to notify their child of a change of afternoon arrangements, it is necessary to phone the school prior to 2:20 pm (End of Lunch – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday) or prior to 2:05 pm (End of Lunch – Thursday Sport) as it is often difficult to locate students if their last lesson is a PE Prac or there has been a room change. Students cannot be collected from the school during school hours by anyone other than a parent or guardian without phone or written permission.
Lateness to school is recorded as a partial absence and must be explained to the school the same way as other forms of absence. Arriving Late for school requires a handwritten note from a parent/carer, email or a phone call from a parent/carer or the absence is recorded as an unexplained partial absence.
Students are reminded that if they are unwell whilst at school, they are to advise their teacher who will then send them to the Front Office. If necessary, the office staff will contact a parent while the student waits in the Clinic. Students are not to contact parents on their mobile phones as this leaves teachers and office staff unaware of the situation and is also in breach of the school policy – use of mobile phones.

Newcastle University Experiment-Fest
In week 9 last term, 30 of our enthusiastic Year 12 Science students had the opportunity to attend Experiment Fest at Newcastle University. This annual event brings science to life through a series of hands-on experiments, interactive demonstrations, and workshops run by university researchers and staff.
Designed to spark curiosity and deepen scientific understanding, Experiment Fest gave our students a valuable taste of university-level science. The day was packed with engaging learning experiences that go far beyond the classroom. Chemistry students were able to use Atomic Absorption Spectrometers to analyse sports drink, whilst the Biologists were able to analyse DNA samples using Gel Electrophoresis. The Physicists were exposed to several exciting experiments including the Michelson-Moreley Experiment.
Students also had the chance to tour the university labs and speak with academics, helping them to explore future pathways in STEM fields. It was an inspiring day that left our students feeling motivated, challenged, and excited about what lies ahead in their scientific journeys.

Thank you to Paul Smyth and Erin Lawler who accompanied the students on the day. A very early start for all and a long day, but very worthwhile for the students who will take this experience into their upcoming Trial HSC examinations.

In Week 1, our talented Year 12 Drama students proudly presented their HSC Drama Showcase, sharing the results of a term of dedication and creative collaboration. The evening featured an exciting variety of group performance, individual monologues, and a presentation of video drama, reflecting the incredible effort and passion our students have poured into their work.

The performances were met with enthusiastic applause from a supportive audience of family, friends, and staff, who were treated to a night of engaging theatre that highlighted the diverse skills and creativity within the cohort. Congratulations to all our Drama students for a truly memorable and inspiring evening!

Japanese Exchange Program 2025
From the moment I gave the first talk at the assembly about the exchange, there has been a buzz around the school that has been almost palpable. And while I don’t mind, I feel as though nearly every student and staff member has asked me about it at one point or another.
Can you believe that it has been about seven years since the exchange program last ran? The last time our Sister School was at St Clare's was 2018. We travelled to Japan in 2019. Then there was the COVID pandemic, the 2021 floods and a bunch of other challenges, but I don’t think anything was going to stop the 2025 exchange program. Even during the worst moments of this year’s floods, the idea of calling it off never seemed to be on the cards. If anything, it only seemed to make us stronger in our resolve.

I am writing this article with a few days of the exchange still to go because I wanted to write while the feelings were still fresh. Tomorrow we are heading out on a day trip to Cape Hawk and Bennett’s Head, and I’m a little nervous about giving a speech on Friday. But we’ve had wonderful experiences both inside and outside of the school the past week. From visiting a local farm and zoo, to cooking and woodwork classes. A personal highlight was watching the sunset at Rainbow Beach in Bonny Hills, then waking up the next morning and catching the sunrise. I’ve been involved in a few of these exchanges since 2015 and I’ve never seen so many students standing on the beach at 6 am in the freezing cold, if that means anything. And while I’m a little anxious about the rain spoiling our day out tomorrow, I doubt anything will put a dampener on the moods of the students.

It has been incredible to walk around the school once again and see the dark blue uniforms of our visitors. They are a constant reminder that something very special is happening. Our students have been quick to adopt them and make them feel at home. In fact, a student asked me today if the exchange students could come back later in the year for another visit. I think that is a beautiful sentiment, and in this moment, I would happily make it happen if I could.

I would like to thank all the teachers at St Clare’s High School for their unwavering support of this program. I could try to list every contribution, but my words would fall short, and I would inevitably miss someone. There have been countless emails, conversations, favours, deals, pacts and overwhelming gestures of kindness. They say that no one can whistle a symphony, and that has certainly been the case here. Every level of the school has contributed for months, and I know everyone in the Japanese Exchange Committee is so grateful.

A big thank you also goes to the host families who keep things running behind the scenes each day. Having hosted exchange students in my youth, I understand the strain, both seen and unseen, that this can place on a family. Your generosity and patience are deeply appreciated. And to the students, I thank you for all your efforts. The departure of our guests may leave a void, but I hope that feeling serves as a reminder of why we do this in the first place.

Year 8 -2 Science students have spent four lessons working on making models of different body systems.
This is an introduction to the new topic for Term 3 where the class studies in detail the circulatory system, the digestive system, the respiratory system, the excretory system and the skeletal system.
The models will be used as an aid for the rest of the class so different organs and functions of the system can be better understood by all students.

Term 3 kicked off with a bang for the Creative and Performing Arts Department!
Last week our Stage 5 Music and Drama students travelled to Newcastle to experience the outstanding work of the ASPIRE program - an initiative that showcases the talents of students across the Maitland-Newcastle Catholic Diocese. ASPIRE offers a wide range of workshops and performance opportunities for young creatives our students had the privilege of seeing the original 2025 musical production The Rise of The Bozz.
Written by Artistic Director Anna Kerrigan, The Rise of The Bozz is set in a dystopian future where emotions are suppressed and conformity is strictly enforced. Featuring over 150 student performers - including dancers, singers, actors, and musicians - the production was remarkable for both its scale and professionalism. It powerfully demonstrated the depth of talent within the Diocese and left a lasting impression on our Music and Drama students.
The production also showcased exceptional design elements - from imaginative costumes and dynamic lighting to inventive staging - highlighting the many collaborative aspects of the performing arts. It was an inspiring excursion that celebrated creativity, teamwork, and the transformative power of performance.

Spotlight on Talent: Shayla Potts and Anayah Wetere-Smith Shine in ASPIRE’s The Rise of Bozz

Shayla Potts & Anayah Wetere-Smith
This year’s ASPIRE production, The Rise of Bozz, captivated audiences with its powerful storytelling, vibrant performances, and unforgettable music. Among the talented cast were two outstanding students, Shayla Potts and Anayah Wetere-Smith, whose dedication and passion brought energy and authenticity to the stage.
Shayla and Anayah were cast in the vocal ensemble of the 2025 production, contributing not only their vocal and acting skills but also their enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the production process.
Participation in ASPIRE is a significant achievement, offering students the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals, develop performance skills, and build lasting friendships. Shayla and Anayah’s involvement is a testament to their hard work and love for the performing arts.
Their journey through The Rise of Bozz was memorable and we look forward to seeing where their talents will take them next. Congratulations to Shayla and Anayah on a fantastic performance and for representing our school with pride and excellence!

St Clare’s Students Shine in Prestigious National Art School Program
We are thrilled to announce that four of our talented Year 11 Visual Arts students - Molly Trotter, Ramona Ljumanovic, Nina Davy, and Jamieson Neal - have been accepted into the highly competitive National Art School HSC Studio Intensive Program in Sydney.
This prestigious program offers senior students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a two-week studio experience, working alongside practicing artists and educators in a professional art school environment with the course culminating in an exhibition of the students work. It’s designed to deepen their understanding of Contemporary art practices and refine their technical skills in preparation for the HSC.
During the first part of the course, Molly, Nina and Jamieson explored a range of techniques within the expressive form of ceramics whilst Ramona explored a range of techniques within the expressive form of painting. Each student was encouraged to push creative boundaries and develop their individual artistic voice.
Reflecting on their experience, the students shared how inspiring it was to be surrounded by like-minded peers and mentors who challenged and supported them.

Here are some comments about their experiences:
Ramona Ljumanovic:
The HSC intensive program at the National Art school in Sydney, is a great experience for all artistic students. I have just finished a week away in central Sydney to study painting. This was a great week which gave me insight to a Uni style life, as I attended university lectures, experienced talented artists around me whilst creating my own pieces of art in an art studio.
During the day I would attend the Uni program, and during the night I would experience Sydney night life with activities such as the winter festival, late night shopping at the CBD, the night art gallery opening, eating out each night, and visiting word wide famous sites such as the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
I was accepted into the full scholarship which meant my accommodation/boarding was fully paid for. The accommodation was great, my friends and I shared a room, and we made new friends from the hostel, allowing us to attend the boarding activities together.
All over this was a great experience, I learnt a lot as well as having a great time with my friends and the people I had met. Another plus is that it is amazing to have the course on your HSC Certificate. I am excited to return this September for the second module of the program.
If you love art and are considering attending in the coming years, I would highly recommend it!
Molly Trotter:
I elected to study the ceramics program at the NAS Studio Intensive Course. I have found that it is a great opportunity to really immerse myself in a practical studio environment and what is like to experience what studying at the National Art School could be like. I think this is an amazing experience for future students looking to have a creative career. Getting to learn varied skills and bounce ideas with other like-minded students attending the course really makes it enjoyable. Learning different techniques when working with the clay has allowed me to build confidence and deepened my understanding of the medium. Overall, I think this is a great experience and would recommend to anyone looking to captivate themselves in an exceptional practical course.
Jamieson Neal:
The National Art School Intensive Studio Practice is a great experience where we were taught so many new skills and were exposed to what life looks like beyond school. I am practicing ceramics, and our teacher gave us full creative freedom to make whatever ceramic we desired, helping us along the way with her vast knowledge in ceramics.
This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in art, no matter what practice you’re interested it. The program opens so many new doors into the art world and if you’re interested in studying art after school, I would highly recommend this program.
I was able to spend a whole week in Sydney where our supervisors took us to many great spots around the city, where we could experience life outside of Taree. I met so many new people, made so many new friends and learnt so many new things.
I am excited to go back in September, and I recommend future Year 11 Visual Arts students to apply!
Nina Davy:
The HSC Intensive Studio Practice Program at the National Art School in Sydney is an incredible experience for creative and artistic students. I was fortunate to be accepted into the program on a full scholarship, which covered both the cost of the program and accommodation.
The first week gave me a taste of university life, attending lectures, participating in hands-on practical work, and fully immersing myself in the studio environment. I was placed in the ceramics workshop, where I worked daily from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a one-hour lunch break.
Overall, this is a really great experience, and I’m excited to return this September to finish off my ceramic work.
We are incredibly proud of these students for their dedication, creativity and courage to pursue excellence in the arts. Their participation in the National Art School HSC Studio Intensive Program is not only a personal achievement but also a testament to the strength of the Visual Arts program here at St Clare’s.
We look forward to seeing how this experience continues to shape their artistic journeys and inspire others in our school community.

Celebrating Artistic Excellence: Local Student Shines as Finalist in Prestigious UNESAP Art Competition
A wave of pride has swept through the Creative Arts department as talented student, Myra Gupta, was named a finalist in the 2025 University of New England School Acquisitive Art Prize (UNESAP) "Let’s Hang It!" Competition, hosted by the New England Regional Art Museum (NERAM).
There were over 500 entries submitted from 46 schools across regional New South Wales, and Myra’s artwork stood out to the judge for its storytelling quality and technical refinement, earning a coveted spot in the final exhibition. This year, 59 finalists were selected across four categories: Infants, Primary, Junior Secondary, and Senior Secondary.
Finalist’s work was professionally hung and showcased at NERAM in Armidale, with the exhibition running from 25 July through to 10 August.

I was fortunate to attend the opening night, which was held on Friday 25 July, which was a celebration of young artistic talent from across the region. Each finalist received recognition for their achievement, with their artwork displayed for public viewing in a professional gallery setting.
The UNESAP competition, now in its 31st year, continues to foster a love for the visual arts among young people and provides a platform for emerging artists to gain recognition and confidence in their creative abilities. I highly recommend more students getting involved in this wonderful artistic opportunity in 2026.
This achievement not only highlights Myra’s artistic talent but also reflects the supportive environment cultivated by educators and families who encourage creativity and self-expression. Congratulations to all the finalists, and especially to our local star, whose work now hangs proudly among the region’s best.

15’s & Opens Country Cup Rugby League - Northern NSW Finals
St Clare’s High School’s 15’s and Open Boys Rugby League Teams travelled to Coffs Harbour to compete in the Northern NSW Country Cup Finals, taking on some of the strongest school teams on the North Coast.
Under 15’s Boys
The 15’s opened their campaign against tournament favourites, St Joseph’s Regional College. The match was a physical contest from the outset, with both teams showing strong intent in both attack and defence. St Clare’s held their own through much of the match with some gutsy goal-line defence and determined forward runs. However, a couple of costly handling errors near their own line allowed St Joseph’s to capitalise. A late intercept try that went the length of the field sealed the game, with St Clare’s going down 20–6 in a scoreline that didn’t fully reflect the closeness of the contest.
Showing great resilience and character, the boys bounced back in their second match against Great Lakes College. The game was a true arm-wrestle, with both teams trading momentum and points in a tight affair. St Clare’s defensive grit and patience in attack were on full display, with the match coming down to the final play. On the fulltime siren, a clutch field goal from St Clare’s sealed an exhilarating 7–6 win. In their final match against McAuley Catholic College, the 15’s carried their momentum forward, again displaying outstanding teamwork. They combined solid defence with well-structured attacking sets, eventually securing a 12–8 victory. Finishing the day with two wins from three matches was a fantastic achievement and a testament to the team’s discipline, teamwork, and never-give-up attitude.
Back Row: Noel Saunders, Oscar Ryan, Nicholas Pereira, Koen Paff, Ethan Cullen, Hudson Duckett, Xavier Wilkes, Archie Hanley and Kobi Egan
Front Row: Blake Stewart, Finn McNeil, Lincoln Atkinson, Ashton Robertson, Mason Kesby, Lachlan Polson and Arlie Atchison
Absent: Jaxon Whyte-Butler
Open Boys
The Open boys faced a tough opening game against competition heavyweights Newman College from Port Macquarie. St Clare’s defence was outstanding, with players consistently repelling strong attacking sets, and their attacking effort kept them in the game right until the final whistle. However, a few missed opportunities proved costly, with Newman edging out a 12–6 win. In their second match against Woolgoolga High School, the Open boys found their rhythm. Crisp ball movement, confident running and a tight defensive line saw them dominate the game, coming away with a convincing 16–4 victory. The team’s ability to regroup, maintain discipline, and execute their attacking sets was a highlight of the day.
Back Row: Daley Jennens, Logan Clarke, Hayden Robertson, Seth Wrigley, Rory Clarke, Caid Van Wyk, Kyron Donovan, Sam Schilt, Kobi Critchley and Taj Worboys
Middle Row: Will Lott, Damian Gatt, Harry Allen, Tayte Rutledge, Max Schilt, Noah Buckland
Front Row: Harry Martin, Austin Murray
A huge thank you goes out to the dedicated parents who made the trip to support the boys, the teachers who gave their time to coach, supervise and manage the teams, and the students who helped run water and cheer from the sidelines. Your encouragement, assistance and support helped create a memorable and rewarding experience for all involved.

Year 11/12 Mixed Touch Challenge
St Clare’s High School proudly travelled to Port Macquarie to compete in the Year 11/12 Mixed Touch Challenge, marking a significant milestone as it was the first time in many years that the school had fielded a mixed touch football team.
The team kicked off their campaign against tournament favourites and eventual champions, MacKillop College. In a thrilling end-to-end battle, both teams showcased exceptional skill and determination, with the game finishing in a hard-fought 3–3 draw. It was an exciting start to the day and a strong indication that St Clare’s had come to compete.
In their second match, St Clare’s faced a well-drilled and organised side from Woolgoolga High School. From the outset, Woolgoolga displayed precise passing, quick line speed, and clinical finishing. Despite the pressure, the St Clare’s team held their own, defending with grit and pushing forward in attack when opportunities arose. Although the final score was 4–2 in favour of Woolgoolga, the performance highlighted the determination and potential of our team against high-quality opposition.
The third-round match saw St Clare’s take on local cross-town rivals, Taree High School. This game had a little extra energy, with both schools eager to earn local bragging rights. St Clare’s dominated possession early, moving the ball fluidly and using their speed out wide to great effect. Their defensive structure was also strong, limiting Taree’s chances. The team’s effort and cohesion shone through, resulting in a confident 3–1 victory and plenty of cheers from the sidelines.
Progressing to the semi-final, St Clare’s once again faced MacKillop College. After falling behind early by two tries, the team rallied with great resilience, clawing their way back into the contest to level the scores at 3–3. With the game in the balance, MacKillop found another gear late in the match to score twice more and take the win 5–3. It was a gallant effort by St Clare’s in what was one of the most entertaining matches of the day.
This was a fantastic effort from our mixed team, and they should be incredibly proud of how they represented the school – both on and off the field. We extend our sincere thanks to the staff who gave their time and energy to support the team, as well as to the students who represented the school with pride, sportsmanship, and determination. Congratulations to all involved!

Their teamwork and on-court communication were outstanding, helping them remain undefeated throughout the day. They finished at the top of the ladder; four points clear of the nearest competitors. Their sportsmanship and spirit were commendable - congratulations on progressing to the next round!

Thank You to Our Umpires
A special thank you to our student umpires - Callie Thompson, Pippa Rogers, Aliza Ryan and Lila Ryan — for their outstanding work in officiating the games. Their fairness and professionalism ensured a smooth and enjoyable day for all teams. Events like these wouldn’t be possible without volunteers who step up and support school sport.
Next Stage – Port Macquarie
We’re excited to announce that our Junior Girls, Intermediate Girls, and Intermediate Boys teams will be heading to Port Macquarie on 27 August 2025 for the next round of the NSW Schools Netball Cup. We wish them the very best - fingers crossed they make it all the way to Sydney!

Careers Corner
Here we are already in Week 3 of Term 3! Things are revving up for our Year 11 and Year 12 students with the end of Preliminary and the HSC fast approaching.
Year 10 are in the process of selecting their subjects for Senior School and will be attending mentoring sessions in small groups to help this process. Last Wednesday night there was an information evening for students and parents to help the students with their decision-making process going forward. Thanks to Mrs Avery and to all the staff who came along to help make this night the success that it was.
All of Years 10, 11 and 12 had the opportunity to attend Career Quip 2025 last Thursday 31 July. This amazing event gave the students the opportunity to find out about the many post school pathways available to them and from the feedback that staff have received it was very worthwhile. The biggest complaint was that there was not enough time. We will look at our options for next year if it continues to go ahead.
I would like to thank the students for their excellent behaviour and the staff who gave up their lesson time and some of their free time to accompany the students. Thanks to the staff who stayed at school and looked after those who couldn’t attend.
I also need to thank Mr Laurent, Danya and the Hospitality classes for catering for the exhibitors (morning tea and lunch). They did a fantastic job, and this has meant that some money will be able to be put towards next year’s Sea World Work Placement excursion. It has also been a wonderful way to promote St Clare’s in the community.
Chelsea, Ava and Ahmed from Sydney University came to speak to the Year 12 students on Friday 1 August. They had a great deal of information regarding all aspects of study at Sydney University with all important scholarship information. Thank you to Chelsea, Ava and Ahmed for taking the time to talk to us.

Year 12 Trials began on Monday and continue for the next couple of weeks, so we wish all the students the best of luck. It is very important, Year 12, to eat well, get some good sleep, exercise and have a good study regime.
There are only seven weeks until you have completed your school classes for your school years (all thirteen years’ worth).
There are a great deal of university open days, early entry pathways and employment opportunities coming up over the coming weeks.
I have been sent some cards with a QR Code for Teacher Education Scholarships from the CSO. These are excellent scholarships and if, Year 12, you are thinking about studying to become a teacher, then it is a great scholarship to apply for. Please see me if you would like more information.
I would like to remind everyone to please check their emails. I am receiving a great deal of information about job vacancies, apprenticeships and traineeships. If you would like some help with any applications that you might be making over the coming weeks and months, please email me. There is information available in your respective Career Team OneNote spaces in the Content Library under the various tabs.
If you are interested in an Apprenticeship or Traineeship pathway, make sure that you look at the Careers Links and any information that is in the OneNote.
I would like to highly recommend the Australian Apprenticeship App. It has excellent information and practice aptitude tests to see where you would best fit in industry.
There are several deadlines approaching for the Year 12 students who are considering a university pathway next year.
The cut-off for UAC applications at $80 is 30 September. After this date the cost of registering will rise to $215 so if you are thinking about a university pathway post school and you are in Year 12, please make sure that you have registered before 30 September. Do not forget to apply for SRS (Schools Recommendation Scheme) as soon as you have registered and check to see if you are eligible for EAS (Educational Advantage Scheme).
Early entry deadlines for many universities are also fast approaching. UNE, Southern Cross, Wollongong and the Sunshine Coast University all offer these programs so please have a look at these. Charles Sturt University and Newcastle are offering programs as well. There is a very good presentation in the Careers OneNote about the various Early Entry pathways. Even if it is not your first choice, it can give you some options if you do not get into the course you want.
